RSS Feeds The author of Read /Write Web claims that 2007 will be ‘make it or break it’ year for RSS. RSS is already making waves through Yahoo Mail Beta, Google Reader, and MySpace Widget Platform.  Microsoft is expected to release the new version of internet explorer IE7 soon. RSS integrated into IE7 and Outlook 2007 will essentially be responsible for the masses to join the RSS party.

Yahoo Mail has more than 250 million users and RSS is integrated within the Yahoo mail inbox will enable the users to check their favorite RSS feeds while checking their email. So by adding RSS into the mix Yahoo is making it easy for mainstream people to adopt RSS reading as a daily habit.

Sites that will be benefitted the most of course will be major media outlets; web sites which attract a niche crowd probably will not see such a significant impact. The main issue of course will be educating people on the power of syndication. Still many people are not aware of what to do when they see an RSS link; they need to understand that RSS links are meant for a machine to read and not for a human.

So will 2007 be a big year for RSS? Will our RSS subscriptions climb up? Your guess is as good as mine. Only time will tell if the prediction holds true.
