Google recently showed a preview of their new application called Google Wave at the Google I/O Developer conference in San Fransisco. Google Wave is a new model for communication and collaboration on the Internet, which would be released later this year.

So what is Google Wave? As per Google

A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.

A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.

In essence, Google Wave is a hybridized email system that has features of instant messaging. To start a wave, two users start what is basically an instant messaging session. This session can be archived as a conversation. Other users can then be invited to join each wave or conversation. Users can embed photos, documents and other multimedia in the stream of conversation. People can join in or leave at any time, and they can track back the conversations using the playback feature.

Will this revolutionary technology from Google change the way we interact on the web? Go, take a preview of Google Wave at Google Wave Official Site and see it for yourself.
